ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
This new series of beautiful, color saturated photographs are presented both in pairs, combining an image with a detail or closer picture, and individually. The artist aims to find further intimacy with the human body and reveal the authenticity and identity of it in an exhaustive way.
“Colour and composition are still important for me as a photographer. By using a less evident point of view that alienates the model or object in a natural environment, you enter a world of absurdity and abstraction, occasionally with a (coincidental) hint of humour.”

“I put the human as a piece of nature or an object in my picture. It’s a reaction on a lot of fashion photography in which the personality anyway is not important. And it is precisely therefore that I want to let the authenticity of the body speak for itself, an over manipulated body gives us a wrong perception of reality.”
Vandandael’s work is shot primarily with analog cameras, eschewing the manipulation of photoshop and instead embracing imperfection.
