In this recent body of work, Alyssa Krause explores dreamlike landscapes and organic openings that suggest portals into new spatial environments. Through a formal investigation of paint materiality and image construction, she examines how perspective can be reimagined by compressing planes while still evoking depth and familiarity. Krause’s compositions often feature partially formed or “half-there” elements, inviting moments of recognition that remain intentionally unresolved. Balancing an intuitive joy in painting with a thoughtful exploration of perception, her work considers the subtle point at which abstraction begins to register as something known.
