Description
Petra Schott’s latest series of paintings draws on the layered interplay of memory, nature, and poetic imagination. Her daily walks through forests and mountains offer more than just scenery—they provide emotional texture and metaphors that shape her intuitive, un-sketched approach to painting. A thread runs throughout the series, where themes of love, longing, and quiet connection emerge in soft, restrained palettes and open compositions that invite contemplation and emotional stillness.
Schott also looks to the expressive legacy of artist Cy Twombly as inspiration for works in this latest release. Most are grounded in restraint—exposed canvas, minimal marks, gentle color—creating space for intimacy, imagination, and the kind of emotional resonance that lingers like memory.
Continuing her dialogue with Rumi, this painting evokes states of unity and presence. Through abstraction, Schott visualizes connection as a felt, expansive condition rather than a defined place.
