Description
Caroline Pinney’s expressive figurative paintings capture a deeply personal moment of transformation, created in the final season before she became a mother. This body of work pulses with experimentation—layered textures, intimate detailing, and a renewed approach to her signature figures and palette. Translating the emotional and physical nuances of pregnancy into visual form, Pinney crafts tender yet bold tributes to autonomy, identity, and the evolving shape of love. Each piece feels like a quiet reckoning with change, a celebration of what is being lost and what is just beginning.
In Pinney’s Words:
These paintings involved more experimenting than I’ve employed in past collections. Before my Summer due date, I felt eager to hole up in my studio and attempt to translate the nuances of pregnancy into visual works…my final collection with Tappan before I became a mother. Nods and love notes to my independence, autonomy, relationships, and baby are in here, too. You may notice more detail, sporadic texture, and a fresh take on my figures and palette in these pieces. These paintings celebrate a shifting of identity – something I’ll need to redesign after decades of developing.
